Lisa lived with her fear of zombies, but in a real attack, she thought her years of watching their movies would prepare her. Instead, she watched them surround the bank where she worked and kill most of her fellow employees. She tried to run, but nowhere was safe.
Kaveh survived his lifelong love affair with food. In the end, it was a zombie who killed him and ate his stomach. When he came back as one of them, a few habits remained. He wanted to share with his new community the finest ingredients, the choisest brains, but they didn't care. Finally, he realized neither did he. The undead had no feelings, and he would always be alone as the only smart zombie. Whatever self-awareness eating brains had given him, it wasn't worth it. He would be a monster like the others and eat whoever he could catch.
When they met, Lisa saw the reflected memory of life in Kaveh. Speaking with him, feeling for him, threw her zombie assumptions out the window and took away the last strength she had to keep running.
Only Lisa, her old coworker Helen, Kaveh's sister Farah and Farah's husband Neil were still alive. Last seen, the newly arrived National Guard was holding them at gunpoint... A Great Day to be Alive.
